Aparichit is a 2004 Indian Bollywood film directed by Rahul Rawail. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Katrina Kaif and Jaya Prada in lead roles. The story of the movie is about a famous wrestler who returns to his hometown in India after being away for over twenty years. He wants to have one last championship match with his son-in-law who happens to be the reigning champion in that town's wrestling competition. Aparichit means "unbeatable" or "unconquerable" in Hindi, which is what it portrays the character of Durga Prasad being. The movie received positive reviews from critics. Durga Prasad (Amitabh Bachchan), a wrestler, returns to his hometown after being away for over twenty years. He tells the people that he was in jail for killing his wife's lover, but nobody believes him. Durga wants to have one last wrestling match with his son-in-law, who happens to be the reigning champion in that town's wrestling competition. His son-in-law is also married to Durga's daughter Ritu (Jaya Prada), who always slept with Durga's younger brother (Anupam Kher) when he was away and thus not able to win her father's love away from his father. Durga's grandson (Aparichit) also loves Ritu, but she only favors his father (Nirmal Pandey). The boy is very close to his grandfather. It is later revealed that Durga had really killed his wife's lover; it was not an accident. The movie climaxes with Durga defeating the reigning champion in the last match.
The music was composed by Anu Malik and Guru Thakur. The lyrics were written by Mehboob, Kausar Munir and Sameer. The music was released on 1 August 2004. The album consists of eight tracks. The movie also features a song, "Saari Raat Jo Humne Kaha" which is a cover version of a famous Adnan Sami song, "Kuch Is Tarah".
The films has been remade in Tamil as Vazhakku Enn 18/9 by Priyadarshan starring Vikram and Asin. In Telugu as Yuddham Sharanam starring Nagarjuna Akkineni and Hansika Motwani directed by Surender Reddy & produced by Bandla Ganesh. In Bengali as Srijon: The Hero starring Jeet and Koel Mallick directed by Aniket Chattopadhyay and produced by Shree Venkatesh Films. In Kannada as Durgi (2016) starring Devanand, Radhika Pandit and directed by Sridhar K. In Urdu as Qaabil Hoon starring Raj Babbar and Farha Faheem.
Aparichit received positive reviews from critics. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama praised the film says that it "belongs to Amitabh Bachchan [...] He exudes immense grace, commands power, displays terrific histrionics in the wrestling bouts.
